FAQ’s

Return Policy

All sales are final. Please review item details carefully before purchasing!

We work hard to ensure you know exactly what you are getting before it ever leaves our mill. Because we provide clear photos, exact weights, and detailed fiber specs for every listing, we do not accept returns or exchanges once your order has shipped.

Order Issues: If your order arrives incorrect, damaged, or missing items, we want to make it right! Please contact us within 7 days of delivery at [email] so we can get it sorted out right away.

A Quick Note on Fiber Realities: Every digital screen displays color slightly differently, so tones may vary a bit in person. Additionally, because natural fiber reacts to ambient humidity, total weights can fluctuate slightly depending on the climate.

What is a Micro Fiber Mill?

For us, operating a micro fiber mill means working on an intimate, small batch scale. We purchase raw wool and fleece directly from small flock farmers to support their hard work, hand processing every batch into quality wool batts for hand spinners and felters.

Our mission is to support our regional agricultural community by connecting crafters with beautiful, traceable fibers grown right here in the USA.

Where does the Fiber come from?

We source all of our in house processed fibers from small flock USA farmers, prioritizing regional and local fibersheds in Central Virginia and beyond.

We are also proud participants in The Livestock Conservancy’s Shave ’Em to Save ’Em program, helping preserve rare and heritage breed sheep!

How should I care for my fiber?

If you are not intending to felt your fiber, we recommend hand washing gently in lukewarm water and laying flat to dry or block. Natural animal fibers are hair, so avoid harsh soaps, agitation, or sudden temperature changes. To remove excess water, roll the fiber in a clean towel and gently press.

If you are trying to felt your fiber, agitate and wash it as vigorously as your project requires! None of our processed roving or batts are superwash treated, and they will all felt, eventually!

(For those curious about our process: we use Unicorn Power Scour for deep, gentle cleaning of all our raw fleeces!)

What is this tiny piece of plant in my fiber?

Every fleece comes from a sheep, goat, alpaca, animal that lived outdoors surrounded by pasture, trees, and hay. Small plant bits are known as vegetable matter (VM) and while we skirt thoroughly and work hard to remove VM through multiple processing steps (washing, picking, and carding) small bits of hay or straw can occasionally remain in finished batts and roving.

  • A Note on Animals & Allergens: Our fleeces come from working farms where livestock live outdoors, and our processing workspace is cat friendly! While all our finished fiber is stored carefully and kept away from pets, dander can travel in shared spaces. If you have severe animal allergies, please keep this in mind before placing an order.

Our Yarns

We offer hand dyed yarns on bases that are intentionally sourced from trusted spinning mills. These bases include both superwash and non-superwash options using 100% American-grown or international fibers, and every yarn listing clearly indicates where the fiber was grown and milled.

Occasionally, we also offer special small batch, in house handspun yarn!
